The list goes on and on of the many activities in which our Pillar families participate. It is because of the involvement of so many parents that we are able to offer these activities to our children. We truly are blessed.
But, in order to ensure the safety of our children, we must also make sure all volunteers are in compliance with the Archdiocese’s Safe Environment Program (SAFE). There are 3 requirements to be in compliance:
If you are asking, “Do I need to be in compliance?”
The answer is yes for anyone 18 years or older who participates in any activities with children 3 or more times a year MUST be in compliance. This means you could help out in the cafeteria one day, then two months later help with a class party and then later a fish fry. This qualifies as 3 contacts with children. This also means fathers who help at soccer practice or baseball 3 or more times a year must be in compliance.
You do not need to be the actual coach or assistant coach. If you help with any sport or activity 3 times a year, you need to be in compliance. In addition, it does not have to be contact with your children, it includes any child.
Exceptions to the 3 or more times rule are:
If you participate in any of the above just one time, you MUST be in compliance.
Please remember that the objective of this program is the SAFETY of our children. We would not be volunteering all the many hours that we do if it were not for the children.
