On Friday, October 22, Our Lady of the Pillar hosted the annual Grandparents Mass. Many people traveled great distances to be with their grandchildren. Just as our grandparents graced us with their presence, so did God grace us with the wonderful weather. The best part of the mass was when the children from all grades read their essays about why they loved their grandparents. While some were funny, they were all touching, and many of the grandparents had out their tissues. Here is one of the essays read at Mass:

Why I Love My Grandparents
by Stephen Seyer
I love my grandparents because I know I can always confide in them. I remember so many times I could pour out my thoughts to them and they would give me advice -- not the kind of advice from someone who doesn't want to give it, not the kind of advice from an impatient person who had no time to talk. Their advice is the kind from, well, a GRANDPARENT: HONEST AND WISE. I love them for caring about me and I believe that's all the really matters.

After Mass, everyone went to a luncheon in the Parish Life Center where we got to spend time with our grandparents before going to the the annual Scholastic Book Fair. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day enjoyable for everyone who came.
