The ninties were referred to as that decade of "anti-fashion". The most significant fashion trend in 1992 was the grunge fashion trend.
Stonewashed denim became popular in the ninties too. The acid wash trend from the eighties slowly started to decline in popularity. Denim jackets were trendy and tight fitting jeans were less popular. The more relaxed jeans became more trendy. Earth tones became popular with men in the early ninties too.
Most women in the ninties had long, straight hair often with bangs. The bowl cut was popular with the boys and mullet continued to be in style until 1992. The bowl cut is when the hair is cut short on the sides and back, but it is allowed to grow on top.
During the ninties the "Rachel" haircut was also very popular. Jennifer Aniston was on the hit show "Friends" and made the haircut very trendy.

Fluoresent colors became popular in 1989 and was trendy during the ninties too. The neon colors were associated with the beach, summer, and surfing. The five most popular fluoresent were blue, green, orange, pink and yellow.
Parachute pants came into style during the ninties too. The parachute pants were very popular with boys and men from 1990 to 1991. Parachute pants were relaxed fit with tapered leg pants with a drawstring. The pants came in a variety of colors including the popular neon colors.

Hippie-inspired clothing became trendy and became known as the grunge era. Granny sunglasses were popular, bell bottom jeans, and crocheted vests. Denim overalls and shorts were in style from 1991-1994. White demin was also very popular from 1992 to 1998.

Rap music and sports influenced fashion for a lot of boys and teenagers. Many young boys would wear baseball caps backwards. Baseball and basketball jerseys were popular with certain teenage boys too. Nike Air Jordans were popular shoes during the ninties too.
