1985-1989 Science and Technology

 

In 1985, computers made a great advance towards technology. More and more of them were used in classrooms, homes, and businesses.

A health extention act passed in 1985. It concerned health issues of dealing with animals in science. Some of the new laws created were:

~the appropriate use of tranquilizers, anesthetics, paralytics, and euthanasia for animals must be used.

~ appropriate pre-surgical and post-surgical veterinary medical and nursing care for animals in such research must be used.

 

 

In 1986, the space shuttle. The Challenger, exploded 74 seconds after lift off. All seven astronauts were killed.

In 1988, advances in genetics led to more funding for the Human Genome Project which located the 80,000 genes in the human body.
