- Ronald Reagan is elected in 1980 in a landslide over Jimmy
Carter. Only a few hours into his presidency, the Iranian hostages are set
free and Reagan is given the credit.

- The US Supreme Court allows patents on living organisms.
- FBI agents pose as rich Arabs and bribe politicians with
cash for favors.
- US suspends their grain sales to the USSR in a response
to their side in the Afghanistan War
- Saddam Hussein launches a war against Iran over oil rights

- President Reagan fires the striking air traffic controllers
and breaks up their union
- John Hinkley attempts to assassinated President Reagan
- Private satellite dishes are given the ok by the FCC
- Polish Government crushes the Solidarity Movement
- Zimbabwe achieves Black African rule. Robert Mugabe becomes
the first Prime Minister

- 125,000 Cubans leave Cuba for American, most of whom are criminals hand
picked by Fidel Castro's men. Only some of them have relatives in America
- The Indian government makes the Taj Mahal a pollution
free zone
- Israel invades Lebanon and advances on Beirut to drive
PLO soldiers from the country
- President Reagan dubs the Soviet Union the Evil Empire
and then propeses a new anti-missile defense system he nicknamed "Star
Wars"
- Israel and Lebanon sign a peace treay, but the civil
war in Lebanon continues
- Indian Prime Minister, Indira Ghandi is assassinated
- Peter Sutcliffe is arrested and charged with the 13 "Yorkshire
Ripper" murders
