Fashion and Fads
1970 -1974
Accordian-pleated Miniskirts- skirts that were above the knee and were pleated. The girls wore them in many different colors. 
Adidas Shorts- Very short shorts with Adidas 3 striped lines on each side . They were mostly for men in track.
Adidas Sneakers- A running shoe that had a thin sole and the three white stripes diagonally on the sides. They were usually in navy blue.
Afghan Coats- afghan coats were popular with the rockers in the 70's. They were fur lined suede coats.
All Star Converse Sneakers- Some high top, some not, usually black, and had rubber soles.
Angel Sleeved Blouses- Loose cut oversized blouses with bell bottom sleeves. They were all made out of cotton.
Angels Flight pants- These tight fitting polyester men's pants were usually bell-bottomed and were worn with platform shoes.
Army Jackets- Actual olive-drab army jackets were very fashionable in high school. They were frequently worn with ripped jeans or jeans that dragged on the ground.
Banana Jeans- Instead of the buckle in the front, it was in the back, they were very high waisted and usually denim.
Bell Bottoms- They were denim ,tight at the top and baggy at the bottom. 
Catsuits- They are halter neck top joined to a pair of pants. 
Makeup- corals and bright pinks for lipsticks and red for nailpolish.
Fads
1970-1974
* Star Wars action figures- After the popular Star Wars movies there were many fans who couldn't get enough of their favorite characters. Many youths started collecting action figures of Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and more.
* Dashboard Hula Girls- A small hula girl doll that attached to your car dashboard and danced when the car moved.They were popular by California surfers.
* Cork Pop Guns- When you would shoot it, the cork would pop out and hit what you were aiming for.
* Wizzers- Wizzers looked like a top and you could roll the tip across the floor to get just the tip spinning and then set it down and watch it go.
* Pet Rocks- Gary Dahl, of Los Gatos, California, had the idea about his easy-to-care-for pet, a rock. This pet ate nothing and didn't bark or chew the furniture. Pet Rocks were sold with a funny manual that included tips on how to handle an excited rock and how to teach it tricks.
* Lava Lamps- A substance flows up and down in a class conainer. 
*Earth Shoes- These shoes would make you have a better posture and help you with back pain and breathing.
*Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific- A polular hair shampoo that was suppost to make your hair smell terrific!
*8- Track Tape Player- This was used as a car accesory so the people in the car could listen to more than just the radio!
*Mood Rings- rings with a stone that would turn a different color when you were in a different mood.
*Sea Monkeys- when you drop the tiny eggs in the water the sea monkeys will soon hatch and then you feed them and take care of them. 
*Smiley Face stickers- everyone in the 70s loved yellow smileyface stickers!
