The New York's World Fair was in 1939 where travelers got to see a glimpse of the future. Many of these inventions didn't become part of every day life until after World War 2. New medical inventions were made such as a new and safer way to do blood transfusions. In 1937 Chicago's Cook County Hospital opened the first blood bank that stored blood given by live donors. This helped improve the use of anesthesia which made surviving major surgery on vital organs much greater. In 1939 Albert Einstein wrote is famous letter to the president recommending the development of the atomic bomb. Technology led to better refrigerators for foods and increased the production of gasoline to nine million gallons a year. The world's longest railroad bridge was completed over lower Zambest River in South Africa. Traveling became easier and faster with the DC-3(Douglas 1935) traveling non-stop across teh country in 15 hours. George Stibitz of Bell Labs invents the electrical digital calculator.
