1900-1904
In 1901 Carrie Nation began protests against alcohol and destroyed the interiors of saloons, and a Frenchman sailed around the Eiffel Tower in a balloon. Congress made it permanent for mail delivery to rural residents to be free in 1902. The Wright Brothers flew their first airplane, President Teddy Roosevelt dignated Pelican Island, Florida as the first national wildlife refuge, and Henry Ford began building Ford automobiles, all in 1903. In the year of the amazing 1904 World's Fair, Child employment was encouraged to be banned, New York City got its first subway line, and at the World's Fair, the ic cream cone was invented.
1905-1909
In 1906 an Earthquake and fire demolished most of San Francisco, California. In 1907 Immigration made it up to 1.2 million, and most immigrants come from southern or eastern Europe. Henry Ford introduced his Model T automobile in 1908. Coffee was marketed in an instant form, National Association for Colored People, or NAACP, was helped by W.E.B. DuBois to fight southern lynching and segregation, and Matt Henson was an African American who was the first man to reach the North Pole, all happened in 1909.

In 1900 the National Negro Business League was made in Boston, which was sponsored by Booker T. Washington.
