Queen Victoria died after 64 years of reign. Famous animation pioneer, Walt Disney, was born in Chicago, Illinois. Guglielmo Marconi sent the first transatlantic wireless message from England to Newfoundland. Oil was discovered for the first time in Texas. Booker T. Washington's Up from Slavery was published. Louis Armstrong was born. The Flatiron Building, an example of skyscrapers, was built. Railroads asked fo quicker transportation. The first teddy bear was sold, which was named after President Roosevelt. Immigrants continue to soar in numbers, mainly coming from Austria-Hungary, Italy, and Russia. The famous Tyrannosaurus rex was discovered in Hell Creek, Montana.

The first successful airplane flight, made by the Wright brothers, lasted 58 seconds. Henry Ford made the Ford Motor Company. The first "Tour de France" bicycle race was held. The Panama Canal had begun. The Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis World's Fair, brought ice cream cones and iced tea to the U.S. In New York the first subway segment line was opened. Albert Einstein proposes his theory of relativity, E=MC^2.
