1920's Literature
Many people during the 1920's
were learning to read, in fact, the illiteracy rate was 6%. That
was the lowest it had been in a long time.
A lot of different authors were
born during this era and many more were writing.

Dorothy Parker was an outstanding
author. She was best known for her "wit". Dorothy wrote
many poems and short stories. One book of poetry that she had
published was Enough Rope. This quickly became a best seller.

Ernest Hemingway was another
extraordinary writer. At one time he wrote for Toronto Daily Star.
He won the Nobel Prize for Literature and the Pulitzer Prize for
Fiction.
